After Schools Club

Limavady Community Development Initiative out of schools club provides an after school service for primary school aged children. It is run in a purpose built facility at Rathbeg Drive.

STAFF

There are four full time members of staff and also volunteers employed in the after school setting. All staff and volunteers are fully qualified with a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. We also have students working towards Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ qualifications in Childcare Learning and Development. Staff are encouraged to attend courses throughout the year to develop their professional development portfolio.

OPENING HOURS

The out of school operates between the hours of 2pm and 6pm, Monday through to Friday during term time. Staff collect children from four primary schools within Limavady area at 2pm and 3pm. Children from outside the town are also dropped off at the club. The transport provided is booked through the transport division of LCDI which provides an excellent safe and reliable service.

We provide a full day care service during school holidays according to demand. During these holidays the club is open from 8am until 6pm.

The out-of-school operates a minimum three day policy which means that all children must attend and will be charged for three sessions per week.

SETTLING IN

It is our policy that parents or carers visit our setting and introduce their child/children to the staff before joining the club. We encourage you to drop in on a few occasions for short visits, this will help the child/children feel more familiar with the setting and the staff.

GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

We have an excellent purpose built facility within LCDI which allows us to ensure all children are well cared for. We have two large rooms where children play according to their age. Room 1 is set up as a play room for 4-7 year olds and Room 2 for 8-11 year olds.

The staff in the out-of-schools work closely with Social Services and Playboard to provide a programme for all children. We follow the 'SPICE FOR LIFE' approach where all five areas of children's development are met through planning. These five areas include Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional. There are a range of activities and games which take place in the out of school club to cover each of these areas including team games, physical play, outdoor play, construction, arts and crafts and circle time. The children follow a programme of planned and child initiated play.

HEALTHY SNACKS

We provide children with a healthy snack which will vary from sandwiches, beans and toast, soup and rolls and fruit. We promote and encourage healthy eating as much as possible.

FEES

Our fees (2010) are £11.20 if your child is collected from school at 2pm and £8.40 for those children collected at 3pm. The minimum number of days which must be attended is three, even if your child is off for any reason you will still be charged for the number of sessions booked. During periods of holidays the club will where possible provide a full day care facility from 8 am until 6pm at a cost of £20.00.
