What we do

Our Daycare centre is user-led. This means that the members decide what activities are put on the monthly programme of events.

Some months have pre-set events. For instance, in March we host the Workhouse Day and lay flowers on the Paupers Grave. At Easter we have an Easter egg hamper to be made and a lunch out. During the summer months, we invite family and friends to enjoy our garden with a series of BBQ’s and garden parties. September is the Macmillan Coffee Morning. October means it’s time for fancy dress and November sees us doing something for Children In Need.  In December we have a sale to sell our years’ supply of craftwork.

The following is a list of the usual things we do:

  • Craftwork, which includes jewellery making, painting, leather work and card creation to name but a few

  • computer work

  • games - board games, outdoor games computer games

  • bingo, quizzes, beetle drives, darts

  • gardening

  • karaoke

Local and newspapers are provided as well as popular magazines.

We play “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” or “Can’t Cook Won’t Cook” or “Bullseye”. Sometimes we go out for lunch to a hotel or restaurant. We have enjoyed a few treasure hunts.

During the summer we take full advantage of the garden which is enclosed and private.

Every day is different in Daycare and we wouldn ’t have it any other way!
