Flexicare

The main aim of Flexicare is to keep older people independent in their own homes for as long as possible.  This is achieved through offering a range of low-level intervention services provided by the local community within the local community.  It provides services which support independent living, particularly for clients who have no significant family support network.
The services Flexicare offers include:

  • Befriending – we have a wide range of volunteer befrienders who would call round on a regular basis for a chat to keep the client company and encourage social inclusion.

  • Assisted shopping – a volunteer picks the client up at home, takes them to the shops, post office etc and then home again.  This is a great service for people who still like to do their own shopping but just need that little bit of help.

  • Chaperone – volunteer drivers collect the client at home and take them to their appointment, ensuring they are there in plenty of time.  The driver makes sure the client finds the right department and can wait with the client to keep them company before taking them back home again.

  • Handy Help – this provides help with low skilled tasks e.g. fitting security locks or moving furniture.

All our volunteers are fully vetted before they are placed with a client.  A charge is made to cover the cost of transport where appropriate to cover volunteer’s mileage.
We currently cover Limavady Borough, Waterside and the surrounding rural areas.
