Welcome to Lifestart!

Lifestart is a free home-based, educational and family support programme which empowers parents to enable their children to reach their full potential.Through Lifestart, families are offered monthly, age appropriate, child developmental material which is delivered in the home by trained family visitors throughout the first five years of the child's life.

The material that is used is taken from the Growing Child and covers the physical, emotional, intellectual and social dimensions of children in this age group.

What is a Family Visitor?

The Family Visitor is employed by Lifestart to inform, encourage and support ALL parents, regardless of socio-economical, educational or other backgrounds.Values of Lifestart

• The developmental period from birth to five is considered crucial to the child's capacity to develop and learn physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.

• It is recognised that Parents (or those who parent) are the prime educators and influencers of their child's development.

• The home is the primary environment for education and development.

• The Lifestart programme is comprehensive and community based.

• Lifestart is respectful of the culture and language in the community.

• The Lifestart programme is child directed in its structure, training and delivery.

Confidentiality

Lifestart staff are bound by the rules of confidentiality, families personal details will remain personal and not be discussed with any unauthorised person. Being a parent is a challenging job and no-one gets training for it! So why Lifestart?

• Parents will learn how the activities they do with their child develops intellectual, physical, social and emotional skills.

• Parents will understand the importance of parent-child interaction.

• Parents will feel empowered by the information provided as well as the one-to-one support offered by the Family Visitor.
