Roe Valley Community Playgroup Playgroup Roe Valley Community Playgroup was established in 1996. We provide Quality Childcare in a secure setting for up to 60 children aged between 3 and 4 years with morning or afternoon care during their pre-school years. WELB Pre-school Expansion Programme – Free spaces All morning places are free to those children who are in their immediate pre-school year and are registered with the WELB pre-school expansion programme. Children must be three years old before 30th June to be eligible for a free place in the following September. Fee paying spaces We have a fee paying session in the afternoon available on a first come first served basis. Competition for these places is high and it is advisable to book at least a season in advance. National Curriculum We currently follow the national curriculum and provide learning through play during various activities. Children are encouraged to participate in various activities on offer such as sand and water play, art and crafts, construction and imaginative play. Staff At present we have four fully qualified members of staff who hold all the recognised childcare qualifications (NVQ III Childcare) and attend ongoing training courses throughout the year. The staff team are supported by Volunteers and Students throughout the year. Funding As we are a community based playgroup we organise many fundraising events to aid playgroup resources throughout the year and to help pay for the children’s outings and some equipment; we are indebted to our parents for their support. WELB fund the morning sessions and the fees support the afternoon session. Healthy Living The policy within Roe Valley Community Playgroup is to provide the children with a healthy snack each day that is accompanied with a selection of fruit. The children will choose from milk or water to drink with their snack. All children are encouraged to participate in daily teeth cleaning routine. These snacks are included in both sessions at no extra cost. Outdoor physical activity is an important part of the routine. See for yourself! If you would like to have a look around our facility, give us a call and we will be happy to show you around.
